Fifteen Years In The Making

MyCarpenter is not a startup experiment. It is the natural extension of a business that has been quietly working on Bengaluru homes for over a decade.

Our founder Dinie began practising as an interior designer in 2010, working directly with homeowners across Bengaluru on individual residential projects. As the practice grew, Designs Palette was established as a sole proprietorship on 1 July 2017, formalising what had become a steady stream of full-home interior assignments.

By 2019, the work had expanded into architectural projects — collaborating with in-house architects on residential builds, modular kitchens, and design-and-build engagements that called for site supervision and contractor coordination as much as design.

In 2025, we restructured into Designs Palette Development Solutions LLP — a Limited Liability Partnership under the LLP Act, 2008 — to bring formal contracts, GST compliance, and a long-term operational structure to everything we deliver. MyCarpenter launched the same year as a dedicated brand within DPDS LLP, focused on the small-job category we had been informally serving for years.

Why MyCarpenter Exists

For more than a decade of working on Bengaluru homes — from individual room makeovers to full-house interiors and architectural builds — the same conversation kept happening.

A client we had just delivered a multi-lakh kitchen for would message six months later. "My drawer channel has come loose. Can you send someone?" Or: "The hinge on the bedroom door is creaking. Can it be adjusted?"

We watched this gap widen for years.

The wobbly door that bothers you every morning. The cabinet shelf that has been bowing for three months. The TV mount you bought during the festival sale that is still in its box. None of these are large jobs — but they are your jobs. They matter to you every single day. And there was no one in the market willing to do them at a fair price, on time, with the same standard of accountability that bigger projects receive.

So we built MyCarpenter.

MyCarpenter is what an established interior firm builds when it decides the small jobs deserve the same care as the big ones. Published prices, no haggling. We are a business. We need this to work financially, and it does — through fair pricing, efficient routing inside our service zone, and the AMC subscription model that lets us serve households at scale rather than one phone call at a time. But the original reason we started is unchanged: someone with the experience and structure to take small jobs seriously had to do it, and we decided that someone would be us.

The Team Behind MyCarpenter

MyCarpenter is a brand operated by Designs Palette Development Solutions LLP (DPDS LLP) — a Bengaluru-based Limited Liability Partnership registered under the LLP Act, 2008. We are based out of CKR Complex in Seegehalli.

DPDS LLP operates three brands, each addressing a distinct customer need:

• Designs Palette — our flagship architectural and interior design practice (operating since 2017), delivering modular kitchens, full home interiors, custom furniture, and design-and-build renovation projects.
• MyCarpenter — our small-job carpentry service for Bengaluru homes, with published prices, verified carpenters, and a 30-day guarantee on every visit.
• PeriFence — our B2B perimeter security and industrial fencing division, serving manufacturing facilities, factories, and large commercial sites across South India.

All three brands share the same operational backbone: legally registered, GST-compliant, contractually accountable. When you book MyCarpenter, you are not booking an individual carpenter who may or may not return your call — you are contracting with a registered LLP that issues GST invoices, signs written contracts for AMC subscribers, and has a paper trail for everything.

The founders of DPDS LLP — Dinie (sixteen years in interior design) and Nancy Roby Cherian — continue to lead the firm day to day, alongside Srividya Arun (Customer Relationship Manager), our carpenter team led by Serafat Khan, Sariful Khan, Suraj Khan and SK Murselim Ali, and a network of architects, engineers, and skilled-trade partners we have built up over more than a decade.

Where We Are Today

MyCarpenter currently serves Seegehalli and Kannamangala — two adjacent localities in East Bengaluru clustered around PIN 560115. We chose to start small and stay close on purpose. Hyperlocal scale means we know the building access points, the parking situations, the lift timings, and the security desks in the apartment complexes we serve. A 24-hour booking actually arrives within 24 hours. A 2-hour priority booking actually arrives within 2 hours.

As demand and our carpenter team grow, we will expand to adjacent areas — Kadugodi, Whitefield (Kadugodi end), Old Madras Road near Seegehalli, Hoodi, and outward from there. Every expansion is gated on our ability to maintain the same response times and the same standard of service. We would rather grow slowly and stay good than grow fast and become average — a discipline we learned over fifteen years in design.

How We Think About Growth

A few principles, shaped by more than a decade in design practice, guide how we run this business:

• We pay our carpenters fairly and treat them with respect. Our carpenters are independent service partners, paid promptly through documented contracts, working as named professionals — not anonymous "guys" sent through an app. Many of our team have been with us since launch.
• We do not accept cash. Every transaction flows through UPI or Razorpay. This protects you, protects our carpenters from disputed payments, and keeps our books clean.
• We invest in our service area before we invest in expansion. Better tools, better training, faster response. Geography is the last thing we change.
• We say "no" when we should. If a job is genuinely outside our scope — a major electrical rewire, a structural change, plumbing — we will tell you and point you to the right specialist, even if it costs us the booking. The relationship matters more than the single transaction. Fifteen years of repeat clients have taught us this is the right trade-off.
